Hi, as a person who benefits tremendously from GMAT Club, I would like to share key learnings that I have picked up throughout my GMAT journey.

Background: Experienced business professional in financial services and real estate

Final GMAT Score (Taken in May’18)

Total: 700 (49 Quant, 35 Verbal, 8 IR, 6 AWA)

Quick Tips & Tricks (Opinion-based)

For those looking for a bite-sized information before you take on GMAT, here is a couple of things you need to know;

GMAT score doesn’t depend on the number of questions you get correct but rather on your ability to maintain test difficulty level toward the end of each section - it’s totally fine to answer a couple of hard questions wrong as long as you consistently get the easy/medium questions right; hence, the significance of your fundamental knowledge.

A balance between Quant and Verbal contributes to a better final score. To be good at two things is better than to be great at only one of them.

Not all test topics are equally important. Each has its own percentage of “popping up” on your test screen; devote your precious time to learn the ones that really matter. For example, Number Properties are more valuable than 3D Geometry. Note that you have to learn all of them regardless.

There are only limited GMAT® resources; slowly learn through them and reflect back on what makes each choice the right, wrong or second-best answer. They are the best representation of the real GMAT and each choice was carefully crafted to equip test takers with useful techniques and insights.

Time management is the last key to unlock. I highly recommend “Everything You Need to Know About GMAT Time Management” by Stacey Koprince, an instructor at Manhattan Prep. It has profoundly changed the way I tackle GMAT and helped me stay calm throughout the tests.

Utilize your ESR to identify your strengths, weaknesses, and key areas for improvement. One ESR can narrow your scope of focus and save you valuable study time.

Hi NonS,

To start, a 700/Q49 is an outstanding Score (it's just a bit shy of the 90th percentile overall), so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you!

1) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Congrats again on all of your success so far!

Thank you EMPOWERgmatRichC

You have been a part of my success too; much appreciated for your personalized analysis of my ESRs and many follow-up strategies, especially on the idea of finding "new ways" to workaround GMAT.

To answer your questions, in fact, I have already applied to three leading business schools in the US; 1) Columbia Business School, 2) Ross School of Business, and 3) Darden School of Business.
