I had some plans for R2 but after an admit from my reach and WL from longshot (and no word from stretch), I think I'll never write the essay in my life again. Actualy, I don't know how I even post these replies after burnout in the R1 :done

I put in three applications in R1 and got one admit (Kellogg). I did three more (Wharton, Booth, LBS) for R2 even if Kellogg would probably still be my top choice.

These schools are on par with Kellogg, so I wanted to see if someone throws some very welcome money at me, and more generally I want to know as many schools as possible before I make my choice.

I completely understand those who got one admit and called it quits --they probably made 5-6 apps R1 (AC, ninkorn), were in undoubtful love with their admit or were simply exhausted. I had a very difficult time motivating myself.

Applied to my top 4 choices in R1. Got an admit at Duke, and waiting on Ross.

Certainly thought about applying somewhere in R2, but could not find a school that I really felt I would fit at more than Duke, or that I had a decent shot at.

I had a similar strategy to Paradosso’s. I applied to 3 of my top choices in R1. I planned to apply to one more top choice plus 2 safeties in R2. But when I got my first admit in R1, I replaced the safeties with a reach; I ended up applying to Booth and HBS R2. It was tough to get motivated, but in hindsight I'm glad I did it.

As far as the deposit goes, I'm just going to pay my Kellogg deposit since it isn't too large. That will buy me time to fully evaluate R2 admits if I get any.

Got accepted to 1 safety and 1 target (with low $$ deposit) in Round 1. Also got waitlisted at two of my top choices.

Taking full advantage of Round 2!

I actually got the call from Kellogg while I was in the middle of finishing my Haas app the day before it was do (I called in sick). I took some time to 'celebrate,' put the drinks away, then finished Haas. I figured since I was 95% of the way done and my recs had already taken the time to submit their stuff that I might as well submit it. I'm glad to be done.

I reeeeeaaaaally intended to do 1-2 R2 applications over Christmas week, but totally punked out and watched reality TV at my parent's house. I usually hate TV, but these last few months totally burned me out.

The worst part in my case is that I haven't heard from any of my 3 R1 schools yet... My decisions won't come till next week and into February. Reading this thread is making me really jealous that I didn't apply to schools that had earlier decision dates....

Count me for 'R1 Still Waiting and I am Rolling the Dice: 1'

I am still considering a part-time application to Haas, about 90% of the way done with it. Part-time applications are sooooo much shorter than full-time :-D .

I'm impressed with your willpower. I got the call from Kellogg late afternoon on a Thursday, and not only did I do nothing after I got the call but tell people and celebrate, but I did next to no work the next day as well.

So it seems as the general concensus is apply for your top schools in R1, safety schools in R2.

I didn't receive my R1 decision until today and by then I had already submitted all my R2 applications. So, where does that put me?

It's more like, "Apply to your Slightly Outta reach Schools in R1, and apply to whoever is not rejecting just about everyone in R2 (based on R1 admit/ding trend)"........

Reality bit me hard in R1.....

Bunch of R2 apps went out. I did find a job though so if I don't get in somewhere nice this year, I will reapply next year.

I think what ninkorn is saying is don't apply to MIT in R2 :-D
