Strong GRE and impactful work in public policy add weight to your app. Round 3 is competitive, especially at M7, but your unique background and recommenders might help. Consider applying to a few Round 1s next cycle as backup.

You’ve got solid numbers, excellent leadership exposure, and standout recommenders. Round 3 is tough, especially for internationals, but your profile is compelling. I’d say go for it—just manage expectations and have backup plans.

Your GRE and leadership roles shine, and your story stands out. That said, Round 3 is a long shot at Stanford or Wharton. Still, you have a fighting chance—worth applying, especially to schools like Yale or Darden.

You bring an exceptional narrative with policymaking and sports leadership, but Round 3 at M7 schools is always dicey. Consider submitting strong apps now and prepping early for Round 1 as a safety net. Good luck!

Hi Umair341

A seemingly impressive profile for your age! But I am going to be honest and say that Round 3 in US schools is a bit of a gamble. There are very few chances of getting adequate financial support too, if that is something you are counting on. If I were in your position, I would wait until the new cycle to apply early and also observe the class constructs once the noise around US admissions and job markets has settled a little bit.

I also hope you know that the average experience for internationals tends to be on the higher side of the average at top 10 schools because the expectations are that internationals bring more specialized knowledge that justifies the recruitment stats. If you still wish to apply, you may consider applying to a few selected schools to see where you stand, but I would caution you not to exhaust your entire list of target schools. Doing so may take away the excitement from your candidacy as a reapplicant should you not make it this time. Getting back in the race as a reapplicant is not easy, as the expectations from top schools increase.

I also noticed that your Quant percentile is a bit low. See if you can improve it. Stats are important at top US B schools.

Hi Umair341
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Your profile looks good on the surface. Being a first-gen student from an underrepresented background is a strong start. Plus, your potential recommendation from such high-level figures greatly adds value to your application. Your athletic ECs also demonstrate discipline and teamwork, another aspect which impresses the adcoms.

Speaking about your target schools- each values different aspects. Stanford seeks visionary leaders while Wharton emphasizes diverse leadership.

Applying in R3 means your application needs to be exceptionally compelling and clearly articulate your need for an MBA now and how each specific school aligns with your immediate goals. However, I'd also like to highlight that R3 does not have much scholarship opportunities, incase you are looking for one.

Can you talk more about the impact you aim to make post-MBA and how will a R3 entry at your chosen schools uniquely facilitate this?

Hello Umair341,

You have what it takes; unfortunately, though, R3 at the schools you are targetting is neither predictable nor straightforward. You will just need to put your best case forward and have a back up plan if needed.

Thanks.
