Assume that total distance = \(7d\)
Distance Rachel covered = \(3d\)
Distance Sam covered = \(4d\)
Rachel's average speed = \(s_1\)
Sam's average speed = \(s_2\)
Given:
\(\frac{3d}{s_1} = \frac{4d}{s_2}\)
\(\frac{s_1}{s_2} = \frac{3}{4}\)

Rachel covered 3/7 of the distance, so Sam covered 4/7 of the distance.
Speed = Distance/hours
Rachel's speed: R = (3/7)/X and Sam's speed : S = (4/7)/X
So, R/S= 3/7
