Rachel = r
Kristen = r - 3
David = 2K + 4 = 2(r-3) + 4 = 2r - 6 + 4 = 2r - 2

D = 2K + 4
K = r - 3

D = 2(r-3) + 4
= 2r-2

Here is my approach

Let's assume Rachel contributed = 10
Kristen = 10-3 = 7
David = 2(7) + 4 = 18

Now we need to find an answer choice that gives a result 18

D. 2r - 2 = 2(10) - 2 = 20 - 2 = 18

IMO D
