Rajesh and Pihu started walking from the same point in opposite directions on a circular racing track of circumference 300 yards. When will the two meet for the first time on the track, if they keep walking continuously at their respective speeds?

(1) Ratio of speeds of Rajesh and Pihu is 3:2.

(2) Pihu can complete one round of the track in 30 minutes, if she walks continuously at her speed.

Statement 1 is insufficient since only the ratio of their speed is given.

From statement 2:

Speed pihu is 300/30 = 10 yards/min.
Insufficient.

Combining both:

The ratio of speed of R:P = 3:2
Speed of R becomes 15 yards/min

Both will meet after 300/15+10 = 12 min.

Its a good trap Question , if you don't use the all the details given in the question.
Option C is the Correct the Choice

Given, Rajesh and Pihu are travelling in opposite direction.
Circumference(total Distance) = 300

Asked , when Rajesh and Pihu will meet ?

Statement 1 = Ratio of their speed 3:2
Now as we know time travel to reach the first meeting point will be same for both of them hence we have

$$\frac{D1}{S1}$$ = $$\frac{D2}{S2}$$ ........(I)
Where D1 is the distance travel by rajesh and S1 is the speed of rajesh and D2 is the distance travel by Pihu and S2 is the speed of Pihu.

Also D1 + D2 = 300 as we know both are travelling in opposite direction and total distance/circumference is 300 .......(II)

From the first equation we have
$$\frac{D1}{D2}$$ =$$\frac{S1}{S2}$$
= $$\frac{D1}{D2}$$ =$$\frac{3}{2}$$ .......(III)

2 Equation 2 variables for D1, D2 and hence using equation (II) and (III) we can find the value of D1 and D2 but we dont know the values of S1 or S2. hence we cannot determine the value of time.

Statement 1 is not sufficient

Statement 2 = Only speed of Pihu can be calculated and no information is given about the Speed of rajesh or the distance traveled by any one of them or both.
Hence Insufficient

Combining both , we can calculate the time to reach the meeting point for Pihu and this time will going to be same for rajesh also.

hence Correct Choice is Option C

Option A is the Correct the Choice

Given, Rajesh and Pihu are travelling in opposite direction.
Circumference(total Distance) = 300

Asked , Meeting point of Rajesh and Pihu ?

Statement 1 = Ratio of their speed 3:2
Now as we know time travel to reach the first meeting point will be same for both of them hence we have

$$\frac{D1}{S1}$$ = $$\frac{D2}{S2}$$ ........(I)

= $$\frac{D1}{D2}$$ =$$\frac{3}{2}$$ .......(III)

2 Equation 2 variables for D1, D2 and hence using equation (II) and (III) we can find the solution.

therefore statement 1 is sufficient.

Statement 2 = Only speed of Pihu can be calculated and no information is given about the Speed of rajesh.
Hence Insufficient

Correct Choice is Option A

Hello

You raise a very good point here, BUT the question does not ask about the meeting point. The question asks about the time taken by them to meet for the first time.

Yes you are correct amanvermagmat , question asked us when will the two meet which means time taken to reach meeting point
I solved question thinking "where is the meeting point" is asked and need to find that.

Thanks for the correction
