Alright, I've been out of town and without internet access since Friday, so sorry for not speaking up until now.
Ozmba2006: First of all, I apologize to you if I offended you with locking the thread. I tried my best in explaining why I locked the thread and was trying to be respectful. I guess I failed on both counts. Praetorian explained exactly the reason why i locked the thread much better than I did, and I hope that satisfies your question on why the thread was locked (and later removed by someone with more "power" than a mod).
As for mod's "abusing" their power and "policing" people around, I am well aware of the risk of being perceived as such. For everyone's information, that was probably the first thread I've ever locked, and the only reason is to follow Praet's wishes of reducing the redundant threads in an already busy forum. I do agree that I probably should have spent more time thinking about alternatives to implement Ozmba's idea, and I sincerely apologize to him again for not doing so. I think I was probably in a rush that day and didn't have the time to do so.
I think River's new method of incorporating the easy to read "who got in which school" thread is a great idea and compromise. I hope that satisfies Ozmba's request while keeping the number of threads down. Similar to river's previous great efforts in consolidating/locking/merging threads for Interviews, Resumes, and Recommenders, I hope any future good ideas can be posted in a thread for discussion first before either an admin or mod implement the idea.
In summary, don't worry too much about me (or any of the mods) abusing their powers here. We're all very respectful of each other's opinions and ideas, but we are also human (i.e. fallible). Please PM us in the future if you feel that we were too drastic in doing something, and we'll definitely work out a compromise that's best for the club. That's what we are here for, to make the club a great and EASY to access resource for everyone.
Now this thread is
locked and deleted... haha, just kidding.
