Hi, I want to re-take my GMAT in a month. Please guide me as to how i should proceed further. I thought I screwed up RC, but my ESR reflects pathetic SC skills.I used MGMAT books, and OG and OG verbal review. I prepared for CR by practicing OG questions and did not go through any special book. Followed the method - jot down the info, and pre-think the answer. RC-jot down the story line , and look for details in the para if needed during questions.

bb Bunuel SajjadAhmad HKD1710 please help!

EDIT: Thank you bb for the suggestion.

I have been studying for two months , when i scheduled the GMAT first time. However, there was a week's vacation before my MGMAT mock, after which i rescheduled my test to 20 days later. I am aiming at a 720, and am considering retaking the test in a month.

My practice scores leading up to the test :

MGMAT CAT 510 Q44, V28 - 27-7-17 (Rescheduled GMAT from Aug 10 to Aug 31 after this mock)
GMAT Prep 1 690 Q49,V35 - 16-8-17
GMAT Prep 2 retake : 700 Q47,V38 - 18-8-17
GMAT Prep 4 retake : 710 Q48,V38 26-8-17
GMAT Prep 3 700 Q45,V41 - 30-8-17 (disappointed in my quant score but when i performed error analysis, noted that they were silly mistakes, and rectified the mistakes)
GMAT : 660Q49, V33 - 31-8-2017

I think outdid myself in Quant with a Q49, but my verbal has been disastrous with a V33.Few screen shots of my verbal ESR :

Sorry you have not heard back. I think it would be helpful if you did a few things in the request:
1. I would post your score report as screenshots (uploaded so that they auto-display) that increases chances of people looking at it
2. I would mention your practice scores that were leading up to the test
3. Mention the actual score in the text
4. Include how long you have studied for
5. Include anything else that may be helpful (but not too much as not to discourage people from replying/reading a long post).

Thank you!

Hi Monmonsta,

First of all here is the Analysis of ESR:

Quant:
In first set of Quant you spent a lot of time on the wrong question (6/7 - correct).
You need to work on timing strategy, as you had 80sec per question for last set when on an average you needed >100sec per question. This leads to more wrong/consecutive wrong answers in the end.

Verbal:
If you could get that 100% correct answer in first set than in 3rd set then probably your score could be better, depending on howmany higher difficulty level questions you could get right.
Because of less accuracy in the first 2 sets you did not get tough questions. Notice that difficulty level of questions remained MEDIUM in all 4 sets. With better accuracy in the start student will get questions of MEDIUM-HIGH level difficulty, which is required for better score.
Analyse the average difficulty level trend to understand it better.

Once we get lower difficulty level questionS wrong, Algorithm does not immediately give you higher difficulty level questions.

Please see the attached analysis image to see the number of questions you got right or wrong in all sets in both quant and verbal.

Strategy:

Quant:
Look at this URL where you will see multiple links telling you the ways to improve your quant score :
https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-improve-q47-to-q50-in-2-weeks-248546.html#p1921095
GMAT Club tests will take you to Q50/51. You need to practice them as much as you can.
Learn to recognize patterns so that you can save time.
After solving any quant question, check the solution provided by Bunuel to see how easily one can solve a question in very less time. Just follow Bunuel :)

Verbal:
Your mock scores shows your ability in verbal. You can really get a good score in GMAT because you quant is not bad and verbal is on better side.
To improve in verbal, solve all official questions (OG13/15/16/17/18, Question-Pack-1, GMATprep CATs, Exam Pack-1 & 2). Though plan exam packs CATs well. do not waste them as they are best predictor of your score. Also do MGMAT questions.
As SC looks like the Grey Area for you, learn from MGMAT SC guide & e-GMAT SC.
It does not matter HOWMANY questions you do in a day. All that matters is hommuch you learn from a single question you do.

Overall:
Take CATs weekly and review them thoroughly. (MGMAT, GMATPREP, GMATCLUB) - rely more on Gmatprep scores.
Practice on weak areas.
Keep an error log and revise revise revise.

Last but not the least - Keep confidence, have stress free mind, do some exercise as well.

Please post if you have any followup question.

All the best :)
