I was waitlisted in a T15 last year and intend to apply again this cycle R1. Should I drop a mail to them asking for feedback regarding last year and letting them know I'll be applying this year?

Hello friskymarkets,

That you were waitlisted showcases that you did have certain things working for you from the view point of the school. It is, therefore, a good idea to consider applying once again (provided you are in a position to showcase some key changes in your profile since the last year or so).

To answer your question, there is no harm at all in seeking feedback. However, there are high chances that the school may not respond. In that case, you should be ready with a strong re-applicant essay to take things forward.

All the best!

Hi friskymarkets hope this finds you in good health

Definitely try to get feedback from the admissions office but if that does not work out you can try to get feedback from some senior alumni to identify potential areas for improvement. Unless there is significant progress or deep deliberation on goals/motivation to show since last time, the odds may not be very favorable in R1 either.

Best wishes
