Recent GMAT 730 (Q49/V40) ESR Analysis + Evaluation

Hi everyone,

Just gave my GMAT and score a 730 (Q49/V40). I've previously score a 750 but that score is expiring so I'll be re-taking the test in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'd love some feedback/thoughts from anyone on this forum about my performance and, more specifically, the ESR.

In particular:
1. I was surprised to see I got a Q49 despite only getting 5 counted questions wrong in the order 1/1/2/1 across the 4 quarters of the test. Is that expected? I would've expected this to be a Q50.
2. I seem to have got V40 with 7 questions wrong. What do you think I need to do to go from V40 to V42 and V44 in the next couple of weeks? Also, my ESR suggests my RC sub-score is 38 and CR is 37. I was surprised to see this considering I only got 7 questions wrong across the whole Verbal section. Assuming I only got 2-3 CR/RC wrong (my SC sub-score was 42), is it expected for the sub-scores to be so low? 
3. Should I practice the LSAT RC/CR over the next 2 weeks to try and get a V44?

For Verbal, consider working on your solving approach. May boost your score a bit. Had a 6-hour student for example go from a V41 to a V45 (retake) in about 10 days. Your time management may also need to be sharpened a bit. In the 4th quarter of Verbal you were doing questions in 1:10 on average)

every time when i see someone's ESR, I better understand how gmat exam is structured, which type of questions with in what number of question comes in exam.

Hi rs5713.

V40 with 7 missed is normal. In fact, missing 7 verbal questions often puts people in the upper 30s. So, it's not surprising that missing 2 or 3 CR or RC questions puts you in the 30s for those types of questions.

What you should to do to score V44 next time certainly should include practice. At the same time, you should track your errors to determine what types of questions you're missing partly to find where there are flaws in how you go about answering questions and partly to determine for what types of questions you should learn better strategies. There is a good strategy for each type of verbal question, and if you don't have a strategy that's working well, you can learn one.
