Thank you! This is all really helpful context. Any recommendations on how to alleviate some of the concern with GPA? I've been thinking about building an alternative transcript and am not certain which option would diminish GPA concern the most (HBX Core, UC Berkeley Math for Management, or MBAMath). Or maybe these programs aren't actually that impactful?

I think the usual healthcare suspects come to mind - Fuqua and UNC are the biggest that stand out.
I think Johnson and Darden have a healthcare focus as well. There is obviously the super highly rated Johns Hopkins which has a low-rated MBA program but neverthless a few people have chosen it in spite of all of that - gmatclub/forum/johns-hopkins-carey-vs-minnesota-carlson-vs-yale-mph-342842and chose instead of Yale MPH.

A number of other programs such as Owen (Vanderbilt) and perhaps Carlson have healthcare off-shots in their programs.

However, some of these are somewhat of a "traditional" old school perspectives. These don't hold as much weight in the crazy job market of 2022 when tables have turned for grads vs. employers and tons of money is thrown at people.

My suggestion would be to look at the employment reports and see which programs have been placing well into the companies you would like to join. This reuqires looking a step or two ahead and think about where you would like to work. This will be helpful in your research as you talk to current students and any other folks along the way. Also telling AdCom that you know where they place and where you want to go and showing that it is a well-structured placement program will make you more admittable.

P.S. 3.2 is considered on the lower side in the MBA Admissions unless you have some good explanations but getting 740+ should more than cover any concerns that may arise about your GPA.

Assuming you can hit that 750 on the GMAT, here are a few programs you can consider:

1. Cornell (Johnson)
2. Virginia (Darden)
3. Michigan (Ross)
4. Duke (Fuqua)
5. Northwestern (Kellogg) - probably a stretch
6. UCLA (Anderson)
7. Berkeley (Haas)
8. North Carolina (Kenan-Flagler)
9. Texas (McCombs)

There's a decent range in terms of difficulty, so hopefully that helps you get going. Your GPA is a concern, but a possible 750 on the GMAT can somewhat balance it out.

Hi all - I'm looking into applying for an MBA (beginning in Fall '23) and am still building my school list right now. Interested to see if you all have any recs for programs to apply to where I can gain PM / marketing experience specific to healthcare / health tech. Will cross check any recs with my existing list :)

for context, here is a brief list of stats if that helps you gauge what types of schools I may be a candidate for:

3.2 undergrad GPA from Top 15 university (major was liberal arts-ish with business minor; GPA was lower in first 2 years then got better last two years)
Expected ~750 GMAT score
5 YOE (at time of matriculation) in healthcare consulting both in-industry and at a boutique consulting firm; 1 double promotion (skipped a level) after first year of working, 2 years later switched companies
ECs include experience tutoring children (in college and post-grad), leadership of some work-related ECs

thank you all in advance!
