Hmmm... the last time I took a book out of the library, they didn't charge me 80% of the books value.

I've been choosing just not to buy them in the first place :) I've found that professor's in class notes and course packs have been much much more helpful than any textbook.

After my first quarter accounting class where I read one chapter in the book and never used it again, I've basically ditched textbooks.

I did this during my undergrad. Unless we were working on problems out of the textbook or the book would serve as a good reference in the future, I never bought them.

I never bought the text book until it became very apparent I could complete the course without it.
