So basically why cant //ism be b/w make hand motions and will gesture when conversing with another blind person
Thus researchers have one finding which includes two things. Hence why are we forcing 'that'? I mean if above meaning is acceptable, then going without 'that' should be fine .
Also why do we require //ism with 'as well as'? Are we not required //ism with 'as well as' since it is not a // marker
The sentence is
forcing "that", to make sure that the sentence is
not interpreted, the way you are interpreting
So, researchers have found
two things:
1)
that individuals who have been blind from birth, and who thus have never seen anyone gesture, nevertheless make hand motions when speaking just as frequently and in virtually the same way as sighted people do
2)
that they will gesture even when conversing with another blind person
Parallelism between
that and
that ensures that this is the only meaning interpretation. Since this meaning is logical, we will stick to it.
