Guys

Option C is not grammatically wrong but its wrong solely because of the meaning shift correct?

Also in many tuff SC questions that are based on meaning. what strategy if any you guys use to sort of look at the sentence from far away and to understand the logically meaning and not quickly do a deep dive into SC rules.

Appreciate the input.

Responsible for charting the flight paths for sixteen separate airlines, a detailed map that displayed multiple variations of each plane's trajectory was drawn up by the flight controllers.

Modifier Question: Ask yourself who is "Responsible for charting the flight paths for sixteen separate airlines" is it 1) a detailed map 2) multiple variations or 3) the flight controllers. It is clear that its "the flight controllers" so, A, B and E are out. So, its between C & D.

(A) a detailed map that displayed multiple variations of each plane's trajectory was drawn up by the flight controllers - Incorrect because of modifier issue as stated above.

(B) a detailed map of each plane's trajectory was drawn up by flight controllers to display multiple variations - Incorrect because of modifier issue as stated above.

(C) the flight controllers, displaying multiple variations of each course, drew up a detailed map of each plane's trajectory - Although it fixes one modifier issue but it has another modifier issue (participle/verb+ing form). The flight controllers didn't display the variations, it has to be the map.

(D) the flight controllers drew up a detailed map that displayed multiple variations of each plane's trajectory - Modifier issue is fixed. "That" correctly refers to "map" which displays the variations.

(E) multiple variations of each plane's trajectory were displayed on a detailed map drawn up by the flight controllers - Incorrect because of modifier issue as stated above.

Answer: (D).

Responsible for charting the flight paths for sixteen separate airlines--- The phrase modifies flight controllers. So flight controllers should be the followed noun.

So c and are the possible answer but in c "displaying multiple variations of each course" modifier is not clearly modifying the entity.
Hence D is the correct answer.

We need correct subject and verb for subject

Flight controller chart the flight
Also "Drew up " fulfill purpose of verb correctly in option D
