So I just finished retaking the GMAT. Overall my score improved from 500 to 570. I know the average score for the MBA.PM program is around 600, and I've also heard they are being more selective so they can have a stronger class. Standardized tests have always been one of my weaknesses, and I'm feeling quite burnt out studying for the GMATs. I'm not sure if my score will improve enough if I retake it. I'd like to get my application submitted well before the June 1st deadline, so if I do retake it, I'll be cutting it close.

I have about 5 years full time work experience (1.5 years at one company and 3.5 at my current job), though did have previous part time jobs. I graduated with a Business Economics B.A. and minor in management from UCI. my GPA was 3.3

I'm contemplating whether I should retake the GMAT or focus on my application essays and resume.

Any advice?

I would start working on the application and try to submit it before the end of March so you get a decision by the end of April. Worst case scenario is you get rejected and can apply again next year. Most likely outcome is you will be waitlisted if you don't get accepted. You can then ask the adcoms what you can do to improve your chances of admission. If they tell you to retake the GMAT, you have from the end of April till June to retake the GMAT.

I was accepted into USC MBA.PM but waitlisted at UCLA FEMBA with a 660. They told me to retake the GMAT so I'll be studying for a month and resubmitting my score to UCLA. I took a practice test last weekend (haven't looked at a GMAT problem since last November) and scored much higher than 660. I think it helps to take a rest from studying for the GMAT so your brain can recharge. I was pretty burned out by the time I took test but now I'm refreshed.
