Hi everyone!

I took GMAT Focus and scored 475.
Here’s my section breakdown:
* Quant – 70 (4 wrong + 2 unattempted; timing issues)
* Verbal – unstable (timing + RC confusion) score - 77
* DI – especially bad with chart interpretation score -73

I want to score ~620+ by mid feb as planning to retake the gmat on feb 28.

Can someone please advise:
1) Which area to fix first?
2) What materials (specific books/sections)?
3) What timing strategies should I focus on?
4) Any mentor with whom i can have a free consulation over zoom, or call for about an hour or so to discuss in more detail

Thanks in advance!

The advice above is solid on the fundamentals side, but I want to give you something more specific to DI since that's where your score is taking the biggest hit and it's the section most people don't know how to study for.

Your DI score of 73 with chart interpretation struggles almost always means one of two things: you're spending too long trying to understand the entire chart before reading the question, or you're going back to the chart too many times per question. The fix for Graphs and Tables questions on the GMAT Focus Edition is to read the question first, then go to the chart and pull only the specific data point you need. The chart is a lookup table — not something to read like a passage.

For the 2 unattempted Quant questions, that's purely a pacing issue. Set yourself a hard rule: if you've spent 2.5 minutes on a question and aren't close, guess and move. An unattempted question on GMAT Focus costs you more than a wrong answer. Practice this discipline on every mock before the real thing.

On Verbal, RC confusion under time pressure usually means you're re-reading while answering. Take 30 seconds after finishing the passage to jot one short phrase per paragraph — a quick map. It feels slower but saves time on the questions themselves because you know exactly where to look.

475 to 620+ is a real target. DI especially has mechanical, learnable techniques — you'll see movement there fast. Keep going.
