I am gearing up to retake the GMAT in April 2012. On my first attempt I scored a lousy 500 (Q31; V27) (I detailed a debrief under the post ("Verge of Tears- Official 500; Desperately need advice"). In preparation for the retake, I have a few questions.
This time around, I am going to attempt to focus more on understanding the material & mastering it rather than simply focusing on if I got a question correct. The
Manhattan Gmat instructors emphasize being aware of the different ways to solve a problem, understanding why a certain method worked/didn't work, understanding why the wrong answers are incorrect, and recognizing any tips/tricks. Does anyone have any additional advice on how to go about mastering each quant section? A I am pretty good with recognizing the problem type and setting the problem up to be solved, but fall short on quickly identifying wrong answer choices and tips and tricks. Does anyone have any advice on how to get better at this? Is it simply browsing the quant forum here? If so, can you point me in a direction?
Additionally, I want to get to the point where simple multiplication, division, addition, fractions, exponents becomes second nature to me. Does anyone know of any sites that are useful to enhance/practice quick simple math?
Finally, my weakest area is Data Sufficiency and Word Translations. I have all of the
Manhattan GMAT material, so does anyone know of any other helpful resources? I greatly appreciate any advice that you can provide. Thanks again!
