I know it's a good problem to have, but I'm all tied up in knots trying to figure out what makes the most sense here. I initially had this preference order, which basically is a proxy for rankings/prestige: Ross > McCombs > UNC > ND. I hadn't really expected large scholarship awards, but with UNCs offer of almost full tuition, and a full ride to Notre Dame, I'm no longer so sure.
I don't have a major geographic preference, so that doesn't help. I'd like to get into strategy consulting (perhaps with a tech company), and while it'd be nice to have the MBB door open, I'm not dead set on that.
A lot of people I've talked to seem impressed by ND's name brand above all of the other schools…you guys think that carries much weight?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed!
I recently had to make a similar decision with Notre Dame scholarship and I ultimately I chose the higher ranked school over the scholarship. Based on my research if you're able to get the consulting job the salary at Ross will make up for the cost in a few years. That said I still think you need to consider if you need to take out loans etc.
While Notre Dame name does carry some weight, I dont think the business school carries nearly as much weight as the Ross name. I would probably go with Ross over Notre Dame due to the long term benefits outweighing the scholarship.
I havent looked much into UNC and if consulting is strong there they could be a good option as well. I think Ross is clearly above Mccombs, and probably worth it over ND in the long run. But I would research consulting offers and salaries at UNC as well as your own financials before deciding.
