Hi Everyone,
Would appreciate any feedback to help me with my decision
Applied in Round 2 this year to Yale, Ross and Tepper. Got into Ross with no scholarship and Tepper with the Forte Fellowship of $120,000 total. Currently work in consulting at one of the Big 4's and my aim is to get into the MBB's post my MBA. I know Ross has a better brand value amongst the MBB's. But I'm not sure whether Ross is incrementally so much better than Tepper to give up such a huge scholarship? If it was Tepper ($$$) vs M7 then I would go for M7, but I'm not sure what to choose between Ross and Tepper ($$$). Also, I have asked Ross for a scholarship but they said they have exhausted their scholarship budget and are unable to provide anything this year.
Another question I had was whether I should try again next year in Round 1 and apply to some of the better schools like Columbia, Booth, Kellogg, etc.? I didn't apply this year cause I heard it was the most competitive year for B school applicants + I was applying Round 2.

Congratulations!
1. I would definitely consider Tepper very strongly. It would be my choice, frankly with that level of a scholarship.
2. I would still give Ross a chance and perhaps mention to them that you got a great offer you have a hard time refusing from Tepper. They may consider matching it.... it won't hurt at least. You can see some of the approaches to do that here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/negotiating- ... 12949.html

Yeah, this is a tough one. I like how you're approaching your dilemma - is the incremental bump in chances at recruiting MBB at Ross worth giving up the $120,000 at Tepper. You didn't mention where you're from, but if you're an international, then the answer to that question is a NO, i.e., take the money at Tepper.
Regarding reapplying next year - baller thinking! But here's a question for you: how comfortable would you be with the situation where you give up both Ross and Tepper$$ this year and then don't get into any of the better-ranked programs that you've mentioned? There is no reason to think that the application volume will come down in the next cycle since there would be many highly qualified applicants who couldn't get in this year due to a shortage of intake caused by deferrals from last year, and they could also be considering reapplying.
You should do a good risk vs. reward evaluation here and see if this line of thought makes sense.
