Hello everyone,
I'm facing a challenging decision. I've received offers from two Canadian business schools – Rotman School of Management and Sauder School of Business – and I'm trying to decide which suits me best. Here are the key details:
Offers:Sauder: Offered a $25k scholarship, bringing tuition to a total of
CAD 75k .
Rotman: No scholarship, with a total tuition of
CAD 140k .
Background:I have 4 years of work experience as a Data Scientist, primarily in fintechs and MBB.
My wife has 4 years of work experience working at Amazon, first as an Account Manager and then as a program manager.
Goal:My career goal is to work as a
Product Manager or a Data Science Manager in the tech industry, most likely in Vancouver for the long run.
Preferences and Concerns:I have a preference for living in Vancouver for the long run, but I would be ok to start in Toronto and relocate to Vancouver after graduation.
What I find critical is securing job opportunities for both
myself and
my spouse. We need her to find a work asap, to pay for living costs while I study.
Given these points, I'm leaning towards Sauder due to the financial advantage and my preference for Vancouver. However, I'm aware that Rotman's larger network and the Toronto tech industry might offer broader career opportunities, especially for my
wife.
I would greatly appreciate any insights, especially from those who have made similar decisions or have experience with these schools:
Is it easy to relocate to Vancouver after graduation? Given that I want to live in Vancouver after graduation, is it easier if I am already there?
How do Rotman and Sauder compare in terms of tech industry connections and job opportunities for spouses?
I appreciate all the help and insights!
