Round up?

Question

A few schools I am applying to only allow one two digits for undergraduate GPA. My GPA is a 3.55; should I round down to a 3.5 or up to a 3.6? Thanks!

Mathematically, 3.6 is correct.

On that note, is it acceptable to do the following:
1) for schools with #.## GPA format, 3.55 or 3.60
2) for schools with #.# GPA format, 3.6 or 3.5? This was already answered. I'm curious about #1.

At some schools, they do warn you about rounding up your GPA. I remember attending one of the info sessions at one of the top bschools back in '09, adcom told us that rounding up your GPA is not a good idea.

I am with Xerox. 3.55 is not same as 3.6.

Then what do you do in my position when you have a 3.55 and are only given x.x to submit your GPA?

Well, I don't think 3.5 vs 3.6 is going to make or break your application. :wink:

Some schools (Columbia Business School, for example) allow you to round up (3.55 as 3.6). I think you have the option to round down or up (at your discretion) but if you are not applying to that many schools, I would call the admissions office to confirm what their policy is. Better safe than sorry. No way! I wouldn't round up on that one.

1) for reporting #.## GPA you would put 3.55 2) for reporting #.# GPA you would have 3.6 However I round up my 3.741 to 3.75

And 2.999 rounds to.... no, it doesn't round does it. Three decimal places is good!
