Salmonella is a food-borne microorganism that can cause intestinal illness. The illness is sometimes fatal, especially if not identified quickly and treated. Conventional Salmonella tests on food samples are slow and can miss unusual strains of the microorganism. A new test identifies the presence or absence of Salmonella by the one piece of genetic material common to all strains. Clearly, public health officials would be well advised to replace the previous Salmonella tests with the new test.

B, I will go with the family as well. If the new test detects the level of salmonella at levels too low to pose a threat, then it's utility will be reduced as many food products, otherwise unharmful, could be recalled uselessly

The argument describes salmonella and the current tests used to identify its presence in food. Such tests are slow and sometimes they don't identify the presence of salmonella in foods. Another test, although, seems to be able to identify a strain that is common to all foods in which salmonella is present.
Falsification scenario: what if such strain is also present in foods that are not dangerous for the human health? Clearly the argument would break if such scenario were true.
Assumption: The strain spotted is common only to food in which salmonella is present
POE:
We can see how options C,D and E are irrelevant.
Option A is as well irrelevant because we are not concerned with other types of bacterias.
Option B states that an undesired category of food is also detected by the test. Such undesired category is represented by all the food that contains a little trace of salmonella that is not dangerous to human health.
