Hi Shubharika4,
I am unfamiliar with Scheller, but I am doing my one-year MBA from Mendoza, University of Notre Dame (ND) (The last batch before they discontinued this one-year program).
My experience has been overwhelming. Being close to Chicago, ND, provides a gateway to the city. Many companies from Chicago hire students from ND. Since the location of your college matters a lot, you should research where opportunities are more plentiful: Chicago vs. Atlanta. Mendoza is also famous for finance majors, and many of the students get placed in elite and bulge-bracket Investment Banking firms in Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, etc.
The college also has a lot of exchange programs and experiential learning each semester. Throughout the year, you will be getting a lot of such opportunities. (
https://botfl.nd.edu/) You will work with companies to apply what you have learned throughout the year in many projects. You will also get to spend a semester in Chile (international finance) or Silicon Valley (Tech and consulting), meet people from various businesses, and network for prospective jobs.
Being a catholic school (there is a basilica here), the community within and outside the school is robust, and ND is viewed respectfully with a rich, long history. People even visit this school as tourists mainly because of the Basilica or American football (ND has a crazy fan base; Google ND football stadium).
The college has a very active alumni base. Many students also come here because their families studied at this school. I know people whose great-grandfathers and their whole lineage went to this school, and you will find many such cases. The ND alumni help with referrals or guidance during networking for the job, and networking is crucial in getting hired. They guide everyone who reaches out to them.
I would advise contacting Indian students with similar backgrounds as yours on LinkedIn in both schools from the 2023 batch who got placed recently so that they can guide you well regarding placement after your degree.
DM me if you need more info.
Best,
Sud
