I just found out I was accepted to a Top 20 B School off the waitlist.

I didn't get in anywhere else and was planning to re-apply to schools next fall. I took a new job 5 months ago in a different city. I just signed a one year lease on an apartment and would have trouble getting finances for school.

I asked the Assistant Dean if I could defer and they said that they don't have deferred enrollment but they can hold on to my application and include a letter in my file saying what my situation is and that I was previously accepted.

Do you think that there is a big risk of not being accepted by going down this route?

Worst case scenario, (assuming that you choose not to enroll this year to this school) reapply and do an optional essay reminding them what happened. It can be your safety option and you can reapply to other schools this coming application season as you originally planned.
