Hi all,
How much of a factor do you think a school's ranking plays 5+ years after graduation? Is there a difference between Top 15 and Top 10 excluding HSW?

I think by that point your career progression will be based more on your performance. However, the network of your school will be important forever, and can help you with new opportunities.

Here's the 5 year pay data, which might be helpful for you (keep in mind the 2008'ers graduated during the great recession, so we'll hopefully all be doing even better):

Going to a non-HWS top 10 instead of a top 15 gets you about an extra ~20k-40k per year, with some schools under or over performing.
I'd say on a personal level though, the true difference in value of an applicant is probably less though...If a student who got into Fuqua and Booth chose to go to Fuqua, he'd probably be top 10-30% of the class, so he'd probably make more than median. Despite that asterisk though, Personally, unless a huge scholarship was offered I was going to go to the best school I got into. I think the network and brand of a top 10 school is priceless.
