Thanks a lot for the inputs. I will kick start with SC and CR. However, for Quant, do you have any suggestions on Math Revolution course or any other course for Q50/51?

Hi Sumit,

First off, a 670/Q49 is a strong score (it's right around the 80th percentile overall), so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. You've made some really nice improvements to your GMAT Scores over time - and with a 670 you are actually closer to a 720+ than you probably realize. To consistently score at that higher level though, you will have to make some fundamental changes to how you "see" (and respond to) the Test.

Before we discuss the data in your ESR, I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:

1) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
3) Assuming you retest, when are you planning to retake the GMAT?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi Sumitbramhe,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. First off, a Q49 is a great score, so nice job, my friend!! Now, let’s discuss your ESR. For quant, it’s clear that Sets and Geometry are your weakest topics; however, you really need to take the information from your ESR with a grain of salt. Remember, your ESR is based on only 31 quant questions. So, for example, does your scoring 100% in Rates/Ratios/Percents mean that you are devoid of weakness in those topics? Not necessarily. To improve from a Q49 to a Q50/51, ensure that you are following a study routine that allows you to go through ALL of GMAT quant carefully to find your exact weaknesses, fill gaps in your knowledge, and strengthen your skills.

Regarding verbal, since you scored a V27, you really need to make a major improvement in verbal to hit your 720 score goal. Looking at your ESR, since you scored in the 57th and 46th percentiles for Critical Reasoning and Sentence Correction, respectively, it’s clear that you lack some of the fundamental verbal skills necessary for a high score. To increase those skills, you need to follow a study plan that allows you to learn the foundations of Sentence Correction and Critical Reasoning prior to moving to more advanced concepts. By following a gradual and linear approach, you will ensure that you are methodically improving your skills such that no stone is left unturned.

Regarding prep courses, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses.

If you’d like more specific advice on how to study for GMAT quant and verbal or you have any further questions, feel free to reach out. You also may find my it helpful to read these articles about
how to score a 700+ on the GMAT and how to increase your GMAT quant score.

Good luck!

Hi Sumit! Congrats on your very impressive GMAT journey so far. Three attempts, all showing a positive North-ward trend and you hope to take it further.

Also, since comes across as a specific area of concern, thought I would mention that our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.

After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!

The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.

See here how Mohit, who scored 750 on GMAT, vouches for our book.

If you want to sample a chapter before deciding to go ahead with our book, please PM me your mail-id (along with the chapter that you would like to sample) and I will be happy to send that chapter to you by mail. In addition, the entire Grammar section of the book is also available for free preview at pothi.

p.s. Your ESR link does not seem to be working.
