Curious

Are you planning to apply to one year MBA programs in NA?
I believe going through the class profiles of the students would be a great way to see whether you fit into One-year or two-year.

If you are going for one-year, I think you can start applying, and still keep preparing for GMAT. But, if you are looking at two year, I suggest a retake, given the list of schools I am seeing on the profile.

Yes I plan for 1 year MBA in NA or Canada . I am looking for colleges in which I can get some scholarships.

Scholarships! :( :|

I cannot say for certain because those are really slim even for two year folks. Might need to see the whole profile may be there are some specific ones you qualify for.

Feel free to schedule a call - Consultation

Dear All,

I scored 700 (Q49, V36, IR 4 and AWA 6) in GMAT online yesterday 6th August,2023. Finally in my third attempt, I was able to break the barrier of 700. I have started my preparation way back in 2018. I appeared twice in 2019 and 2020. My score was 560 and 640 respectively. It took me 5 years to score 700. Better late than never  . I was expecting a little more as in the mock my verbal scores were 38,40 and 44. Nevertheless, I was happy when the unofficial score showed 700. It meant a lot to me.

Gmat prep mock 3(06/18/2023) : 690 - Q51, V31
Gmat prep mock 4 (07/08/2023): 710 - Q49 V37
Gmat prep mock (07/16/2023) : 710 - Q48, V40
Gmat prep mock 3 (07/30/2023): 760 - Q50, V44

This forum has helped me a lot. I would like to thank all the experts whose explanations have enriched my knowledge. egmat EMPOWERgmatVerbal GMATNinja KarishmaB and off course bb , to name a few.
I had the opportunity to interact with one expert. Unfortunately he is no more with us. I am thankful to daagh .

egmat has been very helpful. I took a mentorship program, LMP. E-gmat provided extended mentorship. The duration of the program was initially for only one/two months. However, I had to stretch it for 5 months, and I received numerous suggestions and feedback from Ms Rashmi Vaidya, the mentor, during this period. The way she pushed and the elaborate study plans she provided helped me a lot.

I have 10 years of experience in IT industry. I have average academics and do not have many extra curricular activities to show.
I am thinking to retake again in couple of weeks. Do you advise me to retake or to start application process. IELTS is also due. I am focusing more on 1 year course or the courses in which I can get some scholarships.

P.S. I am an Indian, 32+, male and graduate engineer.

Regards,
Arup

Arup, I am glad you got the score you were looking for.

As for your question on whether to retake or continue the application process, it's a difficult call to make.
Let me first point out that with this GMAT score, there is no red flag. I would have liked an IR of 5 or more but that may not be the reason to retake GMAT.
That said, it certainly doesn't set you apart since the competition is fierce in the Indian-male-engineer category. Since you are looking for one year courses, competition is lower there but if you are looking for a scholarship, more would be required from you.

So all in all, I think you should share your complete profile and expectations with a consultant and get some feedback from them on whether to retake or not.

Dear ArupRS,

Congratulations on a well-earned 700! This is Rashmi, from e-GMAT here. It has been a pleasure working with you on this journey.

As discussed over the call, there are a lot of parameters that you need to consider for the reattempt – most importantly the improved fighting chance that a better GMAT score would give you to get into your dream institute. Of course, the fact that your verbal score dropped during the test is another factor to consider.

I suggest that you weigh the options as discussed during the call, speak to experts and make an informed decision. If you decide to reattempt, please connect with us so that we can chart out the next steps for you.

Best Regards,
Rashmi Vaidya
