I took the GMAT in June and scored a 710 (Q46, V42). On my last four official GMAT practice tests I had scored 730 2x and 740 2x, all of which had quantitative scores of 48+. So, I was disapointed with the result and its below average for my top choice (Wharton).
I scheduled a retake of the exam for July and with the intent to only study quant ahead of my retake. Unfortunately, I got very busy with work during that time and went into the test feeling underprepared and stressed. I ended up scoring lower in both quant and verbal and cancelled my exam. Although I know 710 is a good score, I'm worried that my overall score and particularly quant are too low for a school like Wharton.
I'm planning to apply to schools R1 and will use the time between now and R1 deadlines to focus on crafting my applications. That being said, I have been wondering if it's worth it to retake the test cold with minimal prep to see if I can improve my score. If I perform worse, I could simply cancel the score again. So my question is, would retaking the exam for a third time have any negative affects aside from paying the additional $250?
