Hey,
i know there have been many discussions about the scoring algorithm and especially about whether the first few questions in each part are more important than the ones in the end. After reading a lot of experiences I thought I should not put special focus on the first few Q's but after my latest Gmat prep software CAT, I am not sure anymore. If you are interested in this kind of discussion you should have a look at my observation and share your thoughts.
So, I scored a disappointing 31 on the verbal part of gmat prep software (had a 37 on a
MGMAT CAT, 2 weeks earlier) and i feel like the gmac software did not allow me to get a better score because of some early silly mistakes.
Here are the Q's I answered wrong:
2,3,4,6,9,11,27,29,38,40,41
As you can see, I only answered 11 wrong and I know that the percentage of right answers does not matter rather the difficulty of the question. But considering that I got 15 right in a row shouldn't the software have given me problems that would have allowed me to get a better score than 31?! I mean questions 23,24,25,26 should have been pretty difficult considering my long right streak, right?
My takeaway is that i need to pay attention to the questions 1-10, because making too many mistakes at the beginning makes it really tough to get a score over 35 or 40 even if you answer a high percentage right, afterwards.
What are your thoughts?
