I have taken 3 mock tests till now,and on analysing the score i found something perplexing so wanted to ask here. Here are my scores.
GMAT Prep 1 QA - 46,VA-33, Incorrect in CR(6), RC(2), SC(7), PS(3), DS(8). Score -640.
MGMAT 1 QA - 45, VA- 29, Incorrect in CR(5), RC(6), SC(8), PS(10), DS(5). Score -600.
Veritas 1 QA - 47, VA- 37, Incorrect in CR(6), RC(3), SC(8), PS(10), DS(5). Score -680.
I have almost same number of incorrect questions in MGMAT and Veritas and yet overall score in veritas is far higher compared to Mgmat. Also when i compare veritas mock result to GMAT prep mock, with more incorrect in quant i have higher quant score compared to what i have in GmatPrep Mock. So i wanted to ask that do we get inflated scores in Veritas prep mock ? I was planning to buy the veritas prep mock series,so wanted to ensure that i won't get inflated score in mocks.

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. It takes into account a number of different factors, including the relative difficulty of the question, whether you were expected to get it correct or not, the placement of the question, what's going on "around it", the "strings" of correct and incorrect answers, whether the question even counts or not (some questions are "experimental" and are worth 0), if you leave questions unanswered and incur a penalty, etc. Each of the 'brand name' CATs that you've used has its own scoring algorithm, so some slight variation should be expected.
To simplify the above paragraph - the number of correct answers is NOT the truest indicator of how well you've done. A far more useful gauge would be to review the CAT and determine how many questions you SHOULD have gotten correct, but didn't (due to a silly/little mistake). Those mistakes are the things that you have to fix to score at a higher level.
The MGMAT and/or Veritas CATs will be fine for you to use during your studies. Remember that a CAT score is only as accurate as YOU make the experience of taking that CAT. Putting in the extra effort to make how you take your CATs match the Test Day 'event' is a big part of a successful study plan.

The number of incorrect is a rough indicator of how you do, the final score depends on a lot of factors, for example the average difficulty of the problems you got right or missed. Even within different GMAT administrations, there will be variability in how many you can miss and get the same score. The Official CATs from mba.com that are part of the Exam Pack 1 are a good example, the difficulty level of the quant is very different for Exam 3(higher) than Exam 4, which means you can get the same score even if you miss a lot more on Exam 3. so I would say don't worry too much about the variations in the number of incorrect questions. Instead, i would say use the official CATs, the two free GMATPrep and the paid Exam Pack 1 CATs to get the most accurate prediction of where you stand. The rest of the third party CATs may or may not correlate well with the real GMAT.
