IMO - D
- Verb sequencing Ok. - Meaning through the clause - to keep him accommodated in a luxury hotel and in protection of dozens of security officer. - is parallel and makes sense.

This SC does not seem reflective of the GMAT. Official SCs do not employ informal expressions such as forked out, nor do they refer to people by their first names. The OA seems to have been plucked from a recent article on the website for CNN (second paragraph). What is the source of this SC? _________________

Would agree with GMATGuruNY.. Question doesn't seem to be a SC from a reliable source. More of someones trial at making a question... Original uses "keep them in protection", so it seems to be talking of protection to the money stacked, whereas it the protection is for himself.. C is a straight answer due to parallelism and clear meaning.. to keep him ACCOMMODATED .......and PROTECTED.....
however other choices have not been written in a way to taste your GMAT knowledge.. _________________

Although question is not from reliable source, could you please explain to me why E is incorrect? Here, I think simple past is sufficient because no need to specify some event(forked out) is happening first.
