Hi all,
Seeking advice on how to improve my GMAT Focus score. I took the exam today and scored 555 (Q80, V77, DI 77) and I'm pretty devastated.
Timeline: I've been studying on/off since last year, with the past 3-4 months July to now my most consistent period of preparation (studying every day and on weekends).
Resources: Quant (GMAT Club Math Handbook, TTP), Verbal (PowerScore CR, GMAT Ninja videos, TTP), DI (TTP), also purchased and completed 50% of the official GMAT question banks.
Practice Tests: all official tests - note I have managed scores of 655-675 in Mocks #1 and Mocks #2 but omitted as they are re-takes and probably not the best indicator of realistic performance.
- Practice Test #3 - August - 565 (Q79, V81, DI74)
- Practice Test #4 - September - 615 (Q80, V83, DI73)
- Practice Test #5 - September - 585 (Q80, V81, DI76)
- Practice Test #6 - October - 635 (Q83, V83, DI79)
Overall, I'm quite disappointed to see my verbal score drop so much and I was hoping for at least 80+. I suspect starting with Verbal first in the real exam (with higher test anxiety) is not good and I should go back to starting with Quant first to let those jitters go away.
My biggest challenge for both Verbal and Data Insights was time management and not being able to effectively do the last 3-4 questions in each section - combined with a poorer than normal performance in possible earlier questions led to the score.
My goal is to retake the exam in ~3 weeks, my goal is 645 - would be grateful for any advice.
Thank you in advance!
