When you submit a subpar application you’re just speeding up the process of getting rejected. And that would render obsolete any ideas about a promotion or scholarships.
I was able to help someone get a $20K scholarship for the part-time Booth this June but it’s honestly very rare because you’re working and you have an income. He attended a lot of online events and made a really positive impression on one of the decision-makers.
Each of these deadlines is a separate cohort so it works very differently than the full-time program. There is no such thing as early necessarily there’s one deadline for each intake. It’s potentially a strategic move for you to apply before the deadline because rolling admissions but after you’ve maximized every single inch of that application.
If you approach it correctly this could be a real odyssey into self-awareness and self discovery that guides your future choices.
And the better you get to know yourself the better the admissions committee will get to know you and that is how you will get admitted.
I would strongly urge you to start now with the introspection part, MBA applications are stressful enough why add additional pressure by cutting yourself short of time.
I think your first step would be to brainstorm with your recommenders anecdotes (not whole projects, usually) that demonstrate leadership team work and problem-solving.
I’d also like to say that people tend to really over index essays. No idea why. Statistically adcom weighs equally essays, letters of recommendation, résumé and the online application responses.
March, March March (forward

) and btw Booth deadline is April 1.
Plus the weather is awesome in Chicago in May and that’s perfect hanging out with your cohort at the rooftop bar type weather.
Good luck!

Hi Everyone, I’m looking for advice here. I want to apply for Booth and Kellogg part-time MBA programs. Both schools have rolling applications. I’m debating if I should apply in January or March (2022). I was aiming to start March 2022, but open to start in June 2022 as well. Here are some pros and cons of applying by the January due date:
Pros:
1. Be done with it. Get to know the result early and start early.
2*I plan to get a promotion by June 2020, if I can get in and start to take classes in March, that could potentially make my promotion case stronger.
3.Booth might have some more scholarships available if I apply early?
4.School start date works better with my personal travel plan.
Cons:
1. I would be in kind of rush. I started my essay a month ago.
2. Work is super busy before year end so I might have less time to prepare my applications.
3. I started a new job in Jan 2021, my current supervisor might not know me long enough to write a strong LOR. But my previous supervisors in a different company can. Don’t want a tepid letter.
Should I just grind and get it done by January? Or should I take my time and submit it in March?
Thank you.
