I am in a great dilemma. Actually as the first attempt I scored 710(Q49,V36) in 2015. The colleges I am targeting ask for higher scores. So I am re-taking the GMAT and this would be my 3rd and last attempt. However, I am afraid if my scores drop below 710 should I keep the score or cancel it?
I can reapply with 710 to those schools with some improved application but a new 700 or 690 would again diminish my chances. I understand that the colleges take highest scores but I think that theory is flawed because when a college(scpcly IIMs) when they see a lower, latest score they become skeptical.
So please help me chose.
There's no real down side to canceling a weaker score - schools won't know about it.
So, you should only keep the score if it adds something positive to your application. A higher overall score is obvious, but if you do better in a weak area (either Quant or Verbal), or have a much higher IR score to go with it, you might want to keep your score even if the overall is slightly lower.
