Hello Everyone,
I wanted an advice regarding switching job right now, while I am planning to apply for Fall 2016 MBA in round 2 mainly (may be for round 1 if I have time).
The problem is that I have 4 years of work experience in core software development at Oracle. But being only software development, I have not gained
much of an experience in terms of managerial stuff. Moreover, the new job that I have right now is more of managerial stuff, with less of development and
this is the kind of work I want to do even after MBA. One reason why I want to switch is that probably this is the only way my application might look different
from the pool of software engineers applying for an MBA.
But if I join this new company, it will be just 6 months before I apply for MBA. Will it be fine for the admission committee when they see my profile with such
a short stay in the current company. Or should I stay in the current company till I have my applications done ?
Please let me know your opinion. It will be a great help.

I personally wouldn't recommend so. I don't really like my job now (fortune 500 company), but because I am also aiming to start my MBA education in September 2016, I am staying just for the sake of having recommendation letters. If you switch now, it "might" be hard for you to get your current manager to write you references, and your new manager will likely not know you well enough to feel comfortable or provide one or be able to offer the best insight.
I see nothing wrong with your current role. Oracle is a well respected company (although I don't really like it....some modules are just impossible to navigate with ease) and you do have some career progression showing. If you can get a 700+ GMAT, I would say you can be one of the most qualified applicants.
Of course I recognize that I am simply analyzing you situation from my personal experience and decision, you need to consider a few criteria that MBA programs care about, evaluate them against your own situation (you know better than anyone else) and make up your own mind. Cheers.
