Hi. I just took the GMAT test and scored only 470. I was completely shocked, since my mock test were 560 and 570. My aim is 600. That was a huge drop.

I plan to apply to MSc in Business Analytics in some universities in the US, not the top schools. They all waive GMAT exam, however, I decided to take the exam to strengthen my application. But with this score, I wonder that should I mention it in my application (I already chose to accept and send the score). I am worried that this could make them question about my application (I have >3.8 GPA, 2 years of work experience, 7.5 IELTS). On the other hand, I spent time, money and effort to study so I think including the GMAT score would still somehow bring the advantages compared to those who don’t take the test.

Can anyone give me some advices in this issue? Thank you so much!

chipchip99 - sorry to hear the GMAT didn't go better.

Since you've already sent the score to the school, I suggest mentioning it in the Additional/ Optional Essays section, highlighting why there was a drop compared to your target/ mocks. You could also mention your GPA, work-ex and quant/ verbal abilities (e.g. in undergrad, at work, IELTS etc.). As schools consider profiles holistically, and especially since your target programs have waived GMAT, this would likely offset concerns.

Mentioning the score in the application would be better idea. You may provide a few reasons for the low score, though.

Try GRE. Significantly easier quant and verbal only needs a little over 3 month practice.

And I believe you will have to wait until next year to apply too so might as well make the best of the months you have.

If you really aren't as selective on which universities to go to just understand the class profiles of the lower ranked ones and set the score goals according to their range.

I decided not to mention GMAT score in my application. However, since I already sent the score on the test day, would the schools still see and judge my score? All the programs I chose does not require GMAT score.
