Yes. You should. I had a very similar feeling (I could have done better) when I walked out of the test center.

Unless you're a member of the overrepresented group of Indian IT guys your score is more than sufficient for any business school.

I'm not part of the overrepresented Indian IT group but I am east Asian (think Chinese, Korean, Japanese) and I studied engineering at an Ivy League college for undergrad so I've always been strong quantitatively. I think I could have definitely gotten a 770 or 780 if the quant went as it usually did.

Do admission officers at the M7 business schools care about a lower quant score? I think everything else in my application should look decent.

First off, a 750/Q48 is an outstanding score (it's right around the 99th percentile overall), so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is not necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. I am, of course, no expert here but I have read several posts like yours in the forum.

It is very clear to me that this is not a question of being good enough for admission. Common sense tells me that once you are in the 99th percentile, your GMAT score is definitely considered good enough for all business schools and it won't make a difference if you can add an extra 10 or 20 points. If there are 100 applicants with scores in the 99th percentile the decision will most likely not be made based on an extra 10 points. That's when schools look at the other parts of your application to chose the right candidate.

In cases like yours... I think it's about "personal satisfaction." (there is nothing wrong with that. I know most of us her are kind of obsessed with the GMAT or otherwise we wouldn't be posting here.)
I really understand the wish of wanting to be "perfect," and if it gives you personal satisfaction to try it again then do it. It won't make a difference for your application so instead you could also just focus your energy on other parts of your application, but once again: if you really enjoy taking the GMAT and have made it a personal goal to achieve a perfect Q score then sure... why not?
