The product I was leading was covered in media. Should I share a bitly link in my essays? The school application I'm currently working on specifically asks me to summarise my current role and its essay boxes don't have any hyperlink option.

I would not bother. It's very unlikely they will click the link as they are very focused on just the materials that are allowed under submission.

You could put a hyperlink in a footnote or endnote. I still doubt they read it but it'll be less disruptive to the flow of your essay.

I'd agree.
However, you can still mention the media coverage (if substantial and directly recognizing your work) in your resume, essays. One good place to attest this would be through the recommender.

Hello friskymarkets,

Hope you are doing well.

It is unlikely that they will click on the link in the essays.

You could either add the hyperlink to your resume or mention the fact that it was covered in the media. You could also request your recommender to talk about it.
