If your goal is to go into management consulting, you must have already known the time frame when the recruitment occurs! You will barely have any time in the first semester as you will be pre-occupied with orientation, classes, solving academic cases and quizzes, networking/coffee chats, site visits (depending on the classes and electives), socials etc. Yeah!!! I know that is a lot. The first semester of an MBA is the most intense not because it is difficult but because it is time consuming.
Anyhow, coming back to the topic! People do say this when it comes to management consulting preparation-
"If you want to recruit for Management consulting, you must start yesterday!"
That is true! The things that go into Management consulting recruitment based on the timeline would be-1. Attending events/infosessions/workshops: This is a dangerous territory! August-October, after your classes end or in the evening, you might have to attend some of these infosessions/workshops held by some consulting firms on-campus. Might be useful to be more proactive in those.2. Casing: Case interview prep (aka casing) might be something your consulting club will undertake. You might want to prepare from multiple case types but know that it is not about the multiple case types but about the essential frameworks you need to follow in the interviewer led and interviewee led (the more difficult) case interviews. According to my estimate, you need to do 3 case levels (easy medium hard) per case type (about 4 primary and 12 overall) for each interviewee and interviewer led case. You can do the math! So, most of it will come down to case interview prep. And that will happen between Sept- December (not enough time)3. Networking: Obviously, the companies aren't just going to hand you the interview if you don't network (happens between Sept-November)! Afterall, you are about to put your livelihood/life dependent on networking for the rest of your career (well, most of it anyways). Congratulations!! /sALL THINGS CONSIDERED, WE HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YOU!MBA Conquerors has case interview workshops available starting May 15 (tentative date- might shift to 20th)! Registrations close on 14th May. If you are interested, you can scan the QR Code below (between orange and green band in the image) to know more! Or go to this linkFAQsWhat happens in this workshop? We will be organizing 1:1 and group sessions (depending on what you choose) to help you gain the hands on exposure to case interview prep. You will be trained on each case type, learn what is expected during the interview and practice with a partner/coach to sharpen your case training. Basically, this will be an A-Z on Case interview prep! You don't need anything else, before you start, a pre-requisite material sheet will be sent your way that can be completed in less than 4 hours. After that, just bring yourself to the workshop, we'll prepare you.How will people benefit from this?People get an early exposure to casing that will allow them to use the resources provided now to get a head start in their recruitment journey. You will learn what is taught here between Sept-November in the business school but by that time recruitment would have already begun and keeping up will become difficult.Who benefits?Almost everyone who is keen on going to the business school! But many people must be aware that there will be diversity events going on in June/July! Many of them will be recruited early on in consulting, tech and IB even before starting their MBA programs! These workshops can be a blessing for them. For the rest, getting a head start will ensure that they can focus on other recruitment related activities! When does this start? Our tentative start date is 15th May. For any other information, you can just scan the QR Code above and get in touch with our team to ask more specific questions!
