Uff... So the service is availed, necessary milestones accomplished, the final target is done and dusted... And now comes the most challenging part, i.e., writing a review for the same.
Last year, when I got done with my GMAT (
not to forget how painful the journey was... wink-wink), I didn't have a great score. As the Indian B-Schools application cycle was approaching fast, I had to make a decision on whether to give another shot at GMAT or to apply to the schools with the available score. In the meantime, I was also looking for the right admission mentors who were not too pricey but experienced enough to make a difference in my applications. A right B-School mentor is not someone who guarantees your admission (such ones are no less than quacks) but who aids in sailing through the rigorous process and makes you more confident about yourself by providing valuable insights. Let me clarify that 80% of the required task still has to be done by you, and the mentor will add only the rest 20% with his/her critical inputs, but these 20% necessary inputs are the ones that differentiate a mediocre application from an exceptional one. I read a few reviews about "
Admit Ready" on the gmatclub platform and got to know about
Tridisha1, who runs
Admit Ready. The reviews were posted by the students who got admission in previous admission cycles. So I contacted
Tridisha1 through gmatclub and then had a call to get clarification on my confusion. She suggested me to choose either whichever I am confident about or not to choose whichever I am not confident about (so she even added to my confusion... wink-wink). So, as I wasn't confident about improving my GMAT score on my next attempt, I decided to go ahead with my applications.
So we started by shortlisting schools to apply in R1 of the application cycle.
Tridisha1 gave an exhausting overview of the admission process and how the Admission Committee evaluates a student. I must say that apart from being an IIMB alumna, she also holds a deep understanding of the IIMA and IIMC admission processes. Her insights were indeed valuable throughout the process, right from the applications involving essays, letters of recommendation, and profile/resume to the final interview processes. One crucial point I want to mention here is that she made it clear at the start that there is not much difference between IIMB and IIMC essays and letters of recommendation, so it doesn't make any sense to charge extra just because it's a different B-School. Now, this is something that I didn't know, and even other mentors I approached didn't inform me about.
When I started writing the SOP/essays, the mentorship she provided was not limited to the correct formatting and editing of the essays/SOPs; she made me reflect on my journey, grinded out the impactful anecdotes, and added her input wherever necessary. She was always available to respond and never shied away from clarifying even the most minor doubts, even at odd hours. The intense brainstorming session with
Tridisha1 helped me analyze my work experience and formulate impressive responses. Another critical point is that she gives your application a lot of personal focus and assists you in playing to your strengths rather than crumbling at your weaknesses. She was even very attentive towards assisting me in my three IIMA essays, for which we hardly got 4 days to submit. I appreciate her untiring efforts and ensuring the needfuls were ready in time, even with a tight turnaround timeline. The difference between how I structured my essays/SOPs and how she transformed them was clearly visible. When I submitted my essays/SOPs, I wasn't sure about getting an interview invite because of my average GMAT score, but she was more than confident about it.
Indeed, I got the interview invite from all the 3 B-Schools (IIM- A/B/C) that I applied to. Then came the next stage of the application cycle. Given my earlier experience with
Tridisha1 and her team at
Admit Ready, I chose to go with them for my interview preparation. I had two mock interviews, one was on the pattern of IIM-B/C interview, and another was on the pattern of IIMA interview, which includes an additional element of the extempore topic. Each mock interview was taken by a different individual to ensure that I got diverse insights about my approach to tackling questions. The mock sessions and the review afterward were quite insightful and helped me fine-tune my attitude toward the questions. The insights were quite valuable in my overall interview preparation and made me more confident as a candidate going to attempt the interviews of the best B-Schools in the country.
Tridisha1 even called me personally after every interview to ensure how I performed and gave me insights going into the following interview.
The
Admit Ready team was exceptionally professional throughout the process but never shied away from providing a personal focus on every aspect of the preparation process.
.
With a GMAT score of 690 and the phenomenal applications submitted, I was able to convert IIM-A.
