A

Prediction should be followed by 'will'
So A and E are left, however 'the fact' in E is wrong
We are left with choice A.

Please underline the sentence correctly when you post for SC

A for me as well.
Lets see if I can explain.
D. 'Due to' means 'attributed to' try to swap this in place of 'due to'
and you will see that this doesn't work. ---> out

E. 'Due to the fact' is not the correct usage--> out

C.because the economy continues strong, analysts predicted for weeks that the target would---> out

B. use of 'with' would have been correct had the sentence would be like 'with the economy strenngthing'

A. Correct as it is.

Subjunctive mood.....hence A, C and E are out. Between B and D, D retains the meaning of original sentence. Hence, D.

I believe predict that is an exception to this rule !!!
'
scientist predicts that there will be lightning tomorro!!!

prediction is a strong assertion that something will happen whereas the

subjunctive mood represents a desire or wish ,that is ,you wish it happens !!!

scientist desires that there be lightning tomorro !!!

I hope i could clear !!!
so A is better

there is one more question which i came across :

971). Many economists predict that the next recession, when it comes, will be caused by Federal Reserve action taken to prevent an inflationary upsurge that would result if the economy were to expand at an annual rate of three percent or more.

(A) taken to prevent an inflationary upsurge that would result

(B) they took for preventing an inflationary upsurge that would result

(C) taken to prevent an inflationary upsurge resulting

(D) they took to prevent an inflationary upsurge resulting

(E) taken for preventing an inflationary upsurge that will result

OA is A

Its just here in the non underlined part the pedict usage is found ,hence in this question A must be the answer !!!!

Yes, I don't agree subjunctive makes any sense in this question.

I have a specific question here , is strength used as a verb here or as an adjective? I feel its a verb and hence A should be right since because should be followed by a clause
