Hey guys - figured I would open this up to the all-knowing gmatclub community...
Really excited to have a decision on my hands, but never the less it isn't an easy one.
A little bit about me:
- east coaster for most of my life. still have strong family ties to the area.
- engineer by training.
- 4 years experience in environmental/green building consulting.
- looking to study entrepreneurship during b-school and either transition into an early stage clean tech firm or launch own venture in this space post MBA.
The way I see it, the Sloan fellowship offsets the greater tuition cost and finances pretty much become a wash (both Boston and SF are silly expensive). Both schools have awesome entrepreneurship programs and stellar entrepreneurship resources. Since entrepreneurship is really what you make of it, post-grad opportunities are likely similar. I would argue Sloan has a stronger ties to the engineering community and Haas has stronger ties to Silicon Valley and the capital it brings. Both programs are also really strong in energy/clean tech, although I might give Haas the slight nod there.
Culturally I could see myself fitting in well at both schools, although Sloan is probably more in my comfort zone (not necessarily a good thing). I get the vibe I might grow more professionally at Sloan, but grow more on a personal level at Haas. Interesting dynamic there.
What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for whatever you share!
