-Looking to apply to SMU MBA in 2020 with a finance concentration.

-White male, American citizen

-Went to a private school in TX and double majored in Acct and Fin. 3.3 GPA overall. 3.6 Finance. Then did masters in Accounting with a 3.2.

-Worked in public accounting tax for 1.5 years got CPA and currently I work as a financial analyst at a small tech company.

—By the time I begin the MBA I will have 3.5 years of work experience.

-GMAT 720 target (studying now, historically a very good test taker)

-While in undergrad I did mission work in Southeast Asia for a summer and then studied abroad in Europe the next summer. I am involved in my local church but not sure what kind of value that will have (or my previous summers) on my application. (I have time to get involved in EC’s since I plan to apply for the 2020 class. Feel free to make suggestions.)

-I plan to pursue an investment banking associate position after MBA. I went to an information session at SMU to make sure there is OCR for these positions and I was informed that basically every Investment Bank in Dallas recruits out of SMU and most for MBA associates. I’m very interested in this field and by the time I interview I will have been reading about the industry and practicing my financial modeling outside of work for close to 3 years. I’m confident that when it comes to preparation for an interview the only people that will be better prepared are people with IB analyst experience. (Who I will not be competing with for post MBA associate positions.)

If I’m IB or bust I need to make sure my expectations are reasonable, so I would love some feedback on that.

Any comments or advice appreciated, its first post, sorry it’s long :/

Thanks
