There are 25 primes less than 100. I've had some trouble remembering certain ones and decided to create a mnemonic to do so.
You can "sing" a five-note melody along with the lines, if it helps you remember:
Two, three, five, and SEVEN
Then will be ELEVEN
ThrEE, FOUR, six, and SEVEN
BE-FORE one is HEAVEN
ThrEE, FOUR, six, one, nine...
BE-FORE seven this time
Three after all the ACTORS
Except when a FACTOR
Nine after the SAME
Except for four, LAME
Corresponding numbers:
2, 3, 5, 7, 11
31, 41, 61, 71
17, 37, 47, 67, 97
13, 23, 43, 53, 73, 83
19, 29, 59, 79, 89
I know its silly, but every once in awhile I have to ask myself, "Is 43 prime?" Now I'll remember, "Three after all the actors, except when a factor" and know that yes, 43 is prime, because it ends in a 3 but does NOT start with a factor (3, 6, or 9).
