There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
they will know - from what i can tell, the office folks keep pretty careful track of who comes and goes, and will probably put notes in your app.
Though to be sure, you could send a short email saying that you submitted in R2 and will be on campus on Feb 3 and would be happy to provide any additional info that they might need at that time. Of course, they don't actually need anything, but it would get hte point across without you actually saying, "hey, hey! I am coming...ok? Make sure you notice."
My application just changed to "complete and currently under review". My stuff seems to be about 2-3 weeks behind for every school because of the difficulties that my recommender had submitting his recommendation. Not hoping for too much from Stanford, it would take a lot of luck.
Does anyone knows whats going on with Stanford? I havent heard anyone getting an interview nor has Stanford given any timelines around with it will start and stop giving interviews for R2.
I heard R1ers invited to interview were contacted roughly 3-5 weeks ahead of the decisions deadline. Does that still give you a chance? If yes, relax, if not, don't jump to conclusions yet as R1 is not necessarily a good predictor of R2 (with the holidays in the middle, etc.).
Well, I haven't heard anything yet, but there was a major problem with one of my recommendations. My recommender wasn't able to access the site, then technical support for the embark site accepted the rec, but apparently didn't upload it properly. I stayed in contact with the admissions office, but there was some confusion of there, and they didn't ask for the recommender to re-send until last week. They did say that they would consider my app for R2, but I definitely don't have a positive feeling. I will probably be the last one with any news.
Hey! The Stanford R2 looks very quiet! Any interview invites?
Anyway, good luck to all and keep us posted on your advances. I'll keep the front page updated.
