No I don't want to click the "unsubscribe link" in the future each time I post in a thread, it's pianful! It must be deactivated by default.

After you click on the "Post Reply" button, look right below the text window and you'll see 5 check-boxes. Uncheck the bottom one that says "notify me when a reply is posted."

If you do quick replies you may not have that same option.

You can also modify your email preferences here: ucp.php?i=165

there is a setting to turn off notifications for new messages. However, I am not sure why you would not want to be notified of new replies.... for example, how do you know that anyone replied to this thread?

Also, keep in mind that if you don't visit a thread, you will not receive any notifications even if you have subscribed.

I visit the forum regularly I don't need to be notified 20 times that new messages have been posted since my last visit.

The thing about that "notify" checkbox is that it does not appear when I use the quick reply, so maybe by default in the quick reply the notification is active?

If you uncheck that setting in your profile it should be unchecked in quick reply
If that does not work, we have added quick reply about 6 or 9 months ago. Before then, for 7 years everyone had to click the reply button - I would suggest you do that :)
