Hi Jeff,

3 months is a considerable amount of time and not able to get the desired score can be quite disheartening. A 100 points improvement is definitely possible but requires proper planning to do it. Let me share my insights here.

Firstly, relying on random resources might not be a great thing to do because to score well on GMAT, you need to have a standardized approach to solve questions. GMAT often tests you on strategies along with the concepts so just having the conceptual knowledge might not be enough to get a good score.

Moreover, students struggling to manage time efficiently on their GMAT is just a symptom. Sometimes it is difficult to identify the root cause. Students think that practising more questions will help them solve the questions in optimum time. But they fail to understand that, the problem lies somewhere else. Most questions on GMAT such as DS on Quant and CR on Verbal have to be approached in a certain way by doing a certain pre-analysis before jumping into the statements or answer choices. Doing this will help students to reduce the time taken to solve a particular question there by reducing the overall time.

As you have less than 2 months, I would recommend you to rely on a standard source and follow a proper study plan with clear deadlines. An ideal plan should consist of the following things:
• Identify your weaker areas
• Learn the concepts and follow a methodical approach to solve those questions
• Take sectional quizzes and make sure you don’t move to another topic until you get medium-hard questions right.

GMATWhiz is one such unique course which provides you with a personalized study plan that is integrated with the course. The concept booster and practice quizzes help you to solve the GMAT like questions by using the right methodology. It uses AI technology to identify your weaker areas and provide you with real time improvement modules. All you have to do is click the Start button and follow the plan.

Hi Jeff,

A 620 is a solid initial CAT score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 550 most years). Many GMATers face pacing issues in the Quant section, the Verbal section or both – so you are not alone. However, it's important to remember that pacing problems do NOT exist on their own - they're the results of OTHER problems.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What is your overall goal score?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
