Hey guys,

I'm preparing for my GMAT for couple of months with the help of the TTP course but I am fighting with the Verbal (I'm not a native speaker).
Target goal: +650 (I want to take the exam on 05/21/2023 or on 06/11/2023 = 3 to 6 weeks to prepare)
Now: 570/580
practice exams:
21th March: Q40/V30
10th April: Q47/V23
28th April: Q48/V21
-> I have improved in the Quant section but my verbal section is **** up (sorry for the language :D).

My largest weaknesses are SC & CR (CR: don't get the conclusion/premises; SC: silly mistakes such as subject-verb disagreements and so on).
Is it possible to improve my verbal up to V31-V35? I am insecure and don't know how I can learn for the Verbal.

Thanks a lot!
I think I know exactly what's happening here.

GMAT is a pattern based test, if you can see it, you can crack it

Have you tried approaching critical reasoning from the standpoint of a fun puzzle or challenger a tricky game?

Also, do you review your mistakes and regularly go back to make sure you would never make the same mistake again?

I found this to be most useful because critical reasoning is very much a pattern-based type of question. There’s only so many patterns and after a month you should probably know all of them pretty well.

I used to approach it from a traps perspective. If you solve enough official problems, traps become pretty obvious- unwanted comparison, use of superlatives, opposite of the premise/conclusion, conflicts with the facts. It usually ends up between the last two and once you know most of the trap, V40+ is easy

Hi Mr.Boomerang64.

How you prepare for GMAT Verbal can make or break your results, and how you practice is super important. So, something about the way you've been preparing hasn't been optimal.

To get better results, you could read the following post to learn how best to prepare for Verbal.

How to Score High on GMAT Verbal

Also, you can reach out to the TTP team, and we can take a look at your analytics to see what's going on and how you can proceed to achieve your score goal.

Hi Mr.Boomerang64,

From the information that you have provided so far, and considering a Score Goal of 650+, I think that a May 21st Test Date would be too soon (so the June 11th Test Date is the far more realistic one for your Goals). Obviously, you will have to learn and hone some specific skills before you will be able to consistently score 650+, but the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) What type of study routine have you been following? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) Have you used any other study materials besides the course that you mentioned? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

May want to save one or two Official Mocks in case you retake for any reason.
