Posted from my mobile deviceHi rheam25,
Before telling you how to improve, let me tell you what is actually tested on GMAT Quant. Because knowing the destination will help you plan your journey well.
What is tested on GMAT Quant?
GMAT Quant tests only specific types of questions from each topic. So, if you know the different question types and learn the methodology required to solve those question types, then you will likely score well on GMAT Quant. The emphasize on learning the right methodology so much because it is the key to score well on GMAT. There might be many ways of solving a question but the best way to solve under the optimum time is by doing it using the right methodology. You can understand the gist of the methodology used to solve DS questions by referring to the following recording.
The path forward:
A score of 41 on Quant indicates that you might be having a few conceptual gaps. So, i recommend you to first identify those topics. Once you identify
- Go through the concepts of each topic (For example Prime numbers)
- Learn the right methodology to solve questions of that topic
- Take sectional quizzes for that topic (Do not time yourself while doing this; The main focus has to be to learn the methodology perfectly)
- Move to the next topic only if you get 80% accuracy
- If not, go through the concepts and make sure you learn them perfectly this time
- Repeat the process for every topic and once you are done with all the topics, start taking timed quizzes
Make sure you follow these steps while preparing. And make sure you organize the topics based on their difficulty level. If you need any help in making a study plan, you can get in touch with me. Or a better way of getting your personalized study plan is by signing up for a free trial of
