So I am not sure if you wrote the above post in a hurry. But I think you lack a few basic grammatical skills per the post. You definitely would need to read a lot and understand those basics.

Secondly, your score of Q38, V28 says that you need to work on the quant side as well. I would personally suggest TTP which will take you through the very basics to the hardest of the GMAT concepts and covers it very systematically. I think completing TTP thoroughly would probably prepare you very well for Quant.

For Verbal, I did Manhattan SC, CR Bible and followed EmpowerGMAT note-taking strategy for RC. Learnt the concepts from these books and then targeted those specific concepts through unofficial questions. I first got hold of SC, then CR and lastly RC.

Don't lose hope, perseverance is the key to success. Wish you luck!!

Hello shameekv1989,

I want to thank you for your time to reply to my post. I did write my post in a hurry because I was stressed out and upset about my last test score. I do also struggle with grammar I think I've become too reliant on spell check and grammar programs in college so I lost some of my skills. I just purchased all the books you recommended to me would you recommend a specific order on how I should work through them or it doesn't matter. I am looking into TTP because I would like to achieve a perfect quant score I am hoping to take the test in the summer or sooner so I am able to apply to first-round applications. I want to thank you again for replying to me with your words of hope and courage is helping me stay focus and motivated.

Sincerely,
Kristopher

I would suggest the following :-

You should do Quant and Verbal everyday. At this stage, you might want to dedicate 50-50 time of what you plan for GMAT each day to each.

For Quant, if you follow TTP course the way it is structured, you will be ready for sure. You can definitely expect 48-49 at the minimum if you complete it diligently.

For Verbal, start with SC. Read Manhattan SC's 1 chapter - come to GMAT Club - filter out SC questions on that particular topic and make sure you understand every bit of that question. Also, I would suggest to follow incremental strategy i.e. sub600 level then move on to 600-700 and then to 700+

Once you are done with SC i.e. when you start achieving 100% accuracy for sub-600, >85% for 600-700 and > 50% for 700+ move on to CR and then you can take up RC. Follow the same incremental strategy and you shall be ready for the exam.

I know its easier said than done but be disciplined and you shall reap the benefits.

Hello Kris750,

GMAT club is one of the great platforms to get information about the GMAT official test, Study plan, Section wise instructions, and many more.

Your current GMAT mock score is shaky. You can schedule a Free counseling(https://calendly.com/mathrevolution/1-on-1-session) session for 20 mins with one of our experts to have detailed advice on your current study plans.

A couple of things that can be a noticeable barrier to your scores would be some or all of the below.

• Not detailed knowledge of GMAT Math pattern and Question types
• Inefficiency by using time-consuming Conventional method to tackle DS and PS questions still
• No expert support (maybe) who can tutor, analyze, and guide you during your learning
• Lack of many updated questions and practice in the recent exam trend
• Not well aligned with time to solve questions.

Precisely, there has to be one end-to-end solution encompassing all the points mentioned above. We also want to understand your approach to solving PS and DS questions. You can try our free diagnostic test https://www.mathrevolution.com/diagnostic/dtExamMember and receive a comprehensive study guide by topic. This test will clearly help you understand your weak areas.

Your study plan will now change as you are already ready with the vital concepts and their application. The diagnostic test report will give us detailed insight into various topics and your performance. After an in-depth analysis, we will draw out the category of the topics in which you are already better and those where you need more improvement. Also, we will be able to compare your performance while solving the PS and DS questions.

Also, make a note of various possible combinations to achieve a score of 700 or 700+. The possible scores will help you track your performance after taking the mock or practice test. It will also help you maintain balance in both the sections, and you will always be in a great position to allot the study hours to a specific area accordingly.

The possible score combinations for 700 or 700 +: Q should be Q 46, 47, 48, and V should be V38, 39, 40.

We recommend that you must learn the Variable Approach for solving DS questions and the IVY approach for solving PS questions in order to improve your accuracy and save time while solving the question types.

The most important thing for you will be learning and commanding the Variable Approach for DS questions and IVY Approach for PS questions. These approaches are the robust self-designed time-saving techniques that will help you learn efficiently, thus raising your score in the quick nick of time.

Register with MathRevolution https://www.mathrevolution.com/member/signup to get access to our 7-day full on-demand course (27 topics, 490 subtopics, and 1,500 questions) for free trial lessons.

After registering, you will have access to the practice section. Initially, try solving the DS and/or PS questions from very easy and easy category questions on the topic(s) you have learned. You may also connect with one of our experts to get one of the best tutoring supports, which will help understand the topic(s) and solve questions and learn how to manage time and accuracy.

Adding to the same, mastery of the Variable Approach to solve DS questions and the IVY approach to solve PS questions would add a feather to the cap. Below is the useful link we will recommend you to visit on GMAT club to experience the power of DS and IVY approaches.

I started studying last November 2019 I was in school and working full time so I couldn't studying very much I took many practice test and only scored around 450. During the summer after I finished school and just working full time I been studying a lot more. I taken a few more practice test in October and November and to my surprise I was scoring 530 and 550. Manhattan prep and og test. Now its January and I am in the interact by Manhattan prep program because I think I need a good program instead of just self studying books. I taken the second Manhattan prep test and another 530. I read tons of gmat books and worked through many problems but was shocked when my score is still the same after 3 month 38q 28v not sure what I should do should I get touring or wait until the end of the interact program. I'm aiming for a 700 or high 600 score. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi kris750,

It's not really clear the way you are approaching GMAT. GMAT is s test of application of concepts. So, your focus during preparation has to be mostly around the application. And make sure you do your prep in a structured way. By structured, I mean:
  • Learn the concepts of a topic
  • Learn the right methods to solve question types tested from that topic (Most important)
  • Practice a few questions from that topic to get used to the methodology
  • Move to the next topic only if you get a decent accuracy
  • Repeat the process for all the topics
  • Take timed quizzes to get used to the time constraint

The path ahead:

As you have taken a couple of mocks, I suggest you to analyze those in detail. Go through the solution of each question, identify what went wrong, compare your approach with the right one and nullify the gaps if any. This will help you understand your weak areas and learn the right approach. I'm not sure if you are using a standard resource for your preparation. If you are, then go ahead with it. But if you feel you need a resource which can help you with the methodology, strategies and your weak areas, then you can check out GMATWhiz online course.

An additional information about the way you prepared till now and your weak areas would have much helpful to give you a better advice. But we can always have a detailed discussion regarding the same over a call. If you need a specific study strategy, you can get in touch with me using the below link.

Hey,
I recently scored a 770 (Q51, V44) on the GMAT. To share my perspective of how you should go about preparing for your GMAT attempt, I am organizing a GMAT Strategy chat session alongside a fundraiser for SaiJyot, a registered NGO running a free elementary school for about 60 unprivileged kids.

Schedule: 4 pm, Sunday, January 17, 2021

The session would be really helpful for anyone planning to take up the GMAT, be it someone just starting prep or someone a day away from their booked slot. I would also be answering any questions you all might have.

Cheers!
